Over 7.78 million cyber attacks on SMEs were reported between April 2023 and April 2024, highlighting the urgency for robust cybersecurity measures.
The good news? SMEs which achieve Cyber Essentials are protected against 99% of common cyber threats. We offer a comprehensive service to guide organisations through the Cyber Essentials Plus certification process.
We’re a Cyber Essentials Plus certified company, with a team of cyber security experts here to ensure your organisation stays ahead of cyber risk.
The latest cyber security research shows:
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed scheme that helps organisations defend against common cyber threats. While Cyber Essentials is self-assessed, it can leave room for error.
Cyber Essentials Plus goes further, with a technical audit of your IT systems. This certification gives your stakeholders, partners, and customers confidence in your organisation’s commitment to cybersecurity.
Book a strategy consultation with us to learn how Cyber Essentials Plus will help your organisation, and what you need to know about achieving the certification.
Thinc’s team of cyber security experts are here to ensure you achieve complete cyber resilience against evolving threats. By achieving Cyber Essentials Plus, your organisation will be protected against 99% of common cyber attacks. Our team and process will guide you through the Cyber Essentials Plus assessment.
Our approach begins with a thorough assessment of your cyber security measures in line with the five Cyber Essentials controls.
We use advanced scanning techniques that can pick up on cyber threats other tools might miss. The outcome is a comprehensive assessment covering every vulnerability within your organisation.
Once we‘ve conducted your assessment, we’re here to collaborate with you on remediating these issues to ensure you’ll pass Cyber Essentials Plus.
Like the assessment, this process also follows the five controls set out by the Cyber Essentials scheme. We will provide a course of action to mitigate every vulnerability identified, and help you close the gaps.
Our assessment and remediation service ensures you’re prepared to pass Cyber Essentials Plus the first time.
An IASME-certified body like CyberShelter will conduct an on-site technical audit of all the criteria covered in your Cyber Essentials self-assessment.
During the audit, you can expect to be assessed across the Cyber Essentials five controls.
The Cyber Essentials Plus certificate is valid for 12 months. After that, you’ll need another on-site assessment.
Cyber threats are constantly evolving – new vulnerabilities, technologies and methods are introduced every day. We work with SMEs on proactive cyber security. Our approach to ongoing cyber resilience ensures your organisation is always ahead of cyber threats.
After completing our Cyber Health Check and actioning your remediation report, you’ll have all the answers ready for the Cyber Essentials assessment.
It’s an online assessment which takes about an hour to complete. You can read the assessment questions here. We know these questions are in-depth and technical.
Take our ten-minute quiz to find out if you’ll pass or not.
The timeline varies depending on the remediations which we’ll recommend after your Cyber Health Check. Our Cyber Health Check delivers a comprehensive report within five working days, outlining necessary remediation steps. Once these are addressed, the certification process can proceed promptly.
For Cyber Essentials, after you pay the certificate fee you have 6 months to complete the assessment. Completing the assessment form using our remediation report will take around an hour. You’ll get the results within 3 working days.
We offer flexibility based on your needs. If your team has the capacity, we can provide guidance for internal remediation as part of the Cyber Health Check review.
Alternatively, our experts can manage the remediation process for you, ensuring compliance with Cyber Essentials requirements.
We’ve never had a customer fail Cyber Essentials after taking our Cyber Health Check and implementing our remediations.
We can’t completely guarantee that you’ll pass because it depends on whether you choose to implement our remediations before proceeding with the assessment.
Failing the assessment can delay contract opportunities and may impact your business’ reputation. Moreover, the assessment fee is non-refundable.
Our Cyber Health Check is designed to identify and address potential issues beforehand, so you’ve got confidence that you’ll pass on the first go.
Cyber Essentials (and Cyber Essentials Plus) certificates expire after 12 months. At this point you’ll need to redo the assessment.
Thinc takes the hassle out of staying certified – we handle the assessments and keep your security where it needs to be. Take our Cyber Health Check to get started.
Cyber Essentials Plus adds more scrutiny – your cyber security measures will be audited by an external certified body.
You still need to complete the Cyber Essentials self-assessment. The five controls still apply – but your Cyber Essentials Plus auditor will conduct a vulnerability scan and assess a random sample of your devices and systems. The in-person assessment adds an extra cost of around £500 – £1,000.
Cyber Essentials Plus provides a higher level of assurance for your clients and partners.
In addition to ensuring your organisation is protected against 99% of common cyber threats, Cyber Essentials can help lower cyber insurance premiums by demonstrating proactive risk management and is increasingly required for government contracts involving sensitive data.
Cyber Essentials also includes automatic cyber liability insurance for any UK organisation who certifies their whole organisation and has less than £20m annual turnover.
Depending on your current level of cyber security, you may need to invest in additional measures to meet the Cyber Essentials Plus standards.
This can involve software and device upgrades, installation of new cyber security technology, and employee training. Thinc’s experts will guide you through this to ensure you gain comprehensive cyber security.
You also need to achieve the Cyber Essentials certificate before pursuing Cyber Essentials Plus. Read our Cyber Essentials Plus guide for details on Cyber Essentials Plus requirements.
