Odoo vs SAP ERP: which is best for SMEs? Here’s our take on how the two solutions compare.
If you’re looking for an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system designed for small to medium-sized businesses, chances are you’ll have come across SAP Business One and Odoo.
To help you decide which is best which is better suited to your organisation, we’ve put together a side-by-side comparison of the solutions.
Launched in 2002, SAP Business One is a robust ERP solution designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It offers integrated functionalities for finance, inventory, customer management, and operations. With over 80,000 customers globally, SAP Business One is praised for its scalability and industry-specific solutions.
Founded in 2005, Odoo is an open-source ERP solution offering a modular approach, allowing businesses to start with basic apps and add more as needed. It’s popular for its flexibility and affordability. However, the open-source model may require more effort for implementation and maintenance compared to fully managed ERP solutions.
So, how do the two stack up against each other?
Full disclosure: Thinc is a SAP Business One partner, and we’re big advocates of the solution. However, we’re also proudly independent, offering ERP solutions from Sage and Microsoft as well. We’ll never recommend a solution that isn’t right for you – we’re here to help you make sense of your options.
This guide therefore sticks to objective insights. Our methodology for comparing SAP Business One and Odoo is to look at what each can offer across four categories: ERP features, scalability, pricing models and its potential for long-term success. We’ve also looked at external sources for the view of analysts, such as G2.
We’d recommend that you use this comparison as a starting point for comparison, but for a deeper dive, we’re here to help. You can either book a call with one of our consultants or, should you want to research SAP Business One a little more, download our free Buyers Guide.
