Grundfos has removed blockers to productivity, flexibility and resilience with Sage 200 and Thinc’s private cloud services.

Grundfos Water Treatment provides clean and efficient water solutions to industries that we use every day, from commercial buildings to cruise ships, data centres to food and beverage firms. We’ve been working with the UK arm of this global business since 2022, supporting them in getting the most from their Sage 200 enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
One of the team we work with regularly is Matthew Urch, Service Account Manager. Matthew collaborates closely with colleagues in supply chain, logistics, and finance, and has responsibility for many of the technical decisions made by the business.
Matthew and the team at Grundfos were keen to upgrade to the latest version of Sage 200, with their existing version approaching the end of Sage support. The new features such as a browser-based Web Portal, connected bank feeds and improved stock control, all promised to make life easier for the team.
As we discussed the scope of the project with them, the team also began to ponder what other efficiencies could be unlocked through greater flexibility and infrastructural changes.
Matthew explained to us the desire to enhance accessibility, stability and system performance across the business, through more efficient cloud hosting.
One specific need related to their infrastructure. To handle increasing workloads, Grundfos required more server space – which was looking to be expensive if they remained on their current Azure server.
As a Sage Business Partner, we were able to map out the Sage 200 upgrade process for them simply. We also put together a walkthrough of the Sage 200 Web Portal for the team to show how it could work for them.
To address their infrastructural requirements, we scoped out a bespoke environment, with the exact specifications they required at a lower price. To guide Matthew and the team’s decision, we provided a full comparison of the features and costs of their current Azure environment and our private cloud solution, Thinc Cloud.
Grundfos chose to proceed with the Sage 200 upgrade and migration to private cloud – and Matthew has been delighted with how the project went.
“The project management team handled the migration with professionalism and clear communication,” he said. “From planning through to execution, the process felt well-managed and coordinated. Any challenges were addressed promptly, and we always felt well-informed and supported throughout the transition.”
The transition has allowed for a more flexible and reliable working environment, particularly supporting remote access and smoother day-to-day operations.
Moving to Thinc Cloud has improved system reliability and performance, which has helped reduce downtime and improve user experience. Access is now quicker and more stable, which has had a direct impact on productivity. The cloud setup also better supports the business’ strategic goals around operational resilience and flexibility.
For Matthew, the successful outcomes are just another example of how well his team and Thinc work together.
“The support we receive continues to be excellent,” he told us. “Our account manager is approachable and attentive, with a clear understanding of our business. The Support Team remains responsive and effective, resolving queries quickly and helping us navigate any issues with confidence.”
We’re already looking to the future, exploring the potential for enhancements to their reporting capabilities in Sage 200. Whatever comes next, we’re delighted to at their side.
